Our place, situated in the southwestern archipelago of Finland, offer beekeeping, gardening and bed and breakfast accomodation. After renovating the buildings and garden (still going on) and encouraged by friends we started to develop the idea of offering low-priced accomodation to travelers. B & B is only secondary to our main jobs and focuses on summer time when beekeeping also keeps us busy.
Being and living in our property centres around the ideology of self-made and/or nearby produced activities and products. We aim to minimize our environmental burden, safeguard our natural garden and take biological biodiversity into account in everyday life as well as to convey these ideas to our guests. In producing food we try to be as self-sufficient as possible.
All the necessary renovations are carried out respecting traditional techniques without equipping old buildings with "unnesessary" conveniences.
Organic methods: We do not use in any artificial chemicals or pestisides. Instead we use usually horse manure and grass in our vegetable garden. Birds, frogs and small lizards help us with the pests. We circulate all possible materials and use the compost in our garden.
Our bee-keeping is more of a hobby, not professional.
Current projects: Gardening, picking berries, making food, baking. Forestry, repairing furniture, building. Beekeeping and centrifuging the honey in late summer. Also cleaning beekeeping equipments and preparing the garden for the winter.
Internet access available, own room for the woofers as well.
