As Samuel would say, “Feel free and most welcome”. To begin our trip, the logistics of travelling to this remote area were very well organized, and communicating with Samuel was very easy. As soon as we arrived, we felt welcomed by his whole family. They are all wonderful people who treated us with great kindness throughout our three-week stay. Furthermore, we felt appreciated by all the islanders we greeted - they are extremely friendly! We had a lovely time exploring this beautiful, rural island and felt completely safe to wander. Samuel’s deep commitment to his community projects were inspiring. During our stay, we witnessed first-hand the impacts of the women’s sewing programme, the clinic, and the community water project. There was not necessarily consistent work for us during our stay, but Samuel and the family asked for help when needed and welcomed any initiative we wanted to take (gardening, kitchen work, office work, painting, fundraising and spreading the word). Do take advantage of Otis’ tours of Mfangano; he was an energetic and knowledgeable guide for us. We spent much of our free time going on walks, swimming in the lake, reading, taking day trips, and playing with the children at the residence. Samuel and his family are truly what made this trip unforgettable for us. We learned so much during our stay and also laughed a lot. It was hard to leave the people with whom we connected so deeply in just three weeks. The family remains in our hearts.

Highly recommend this place! The host Thaisun, his wife Isley and their sweet little girl Muni are such an amazing family. They’re all so warm, kind and genuine, taking great care of you every step of the way—hanging out with them feels totally easy and comfortable, no awkwardness at all. And Thaisun’s mom is the sweetest grandma ever, her gentle and kind vibe instantly reminded me of my late grandma, it was such a warm feeling. At their home, there are three super cute kitties, all sweet and cuddly with people, plus a really friendly dog that’s so gentle and loving. Every day here is filled with warmth and joy, surrounded by their kindness and these lovely furry babies. It’s such a healing and wonderful experience, 100% recommend everyone to come and stay here!

Thank you thank you thank you! Such a wonderful place with wonderful people who are so welcoming to their community. With so many different options of tasks along with delicious farm to table meals and comfortable accommodations, this was a dream Wwoof. I cant emphasis enough how much hosts truly can make a wwoof experience and you all are top tier with such a wonderful program. My intent with the wwoofs I explore is to learn as much as I can on how to "live off the land" and this place gives you all of that and more. From the opportunity to work in the chicken "coop/barn" to helping with the many different pastures and sheeps to the multiple gardnes (herb and veggies) and the many fruit trees, there was never a dull moment. I even loved that we had the option and opportunity to help in the industrial kitchen where Bungerthof makes their own tea blends (all from the herbs in the garden), breads, and other delicious desserts and syrups. Such a pleasure to have had the opportunity to spend a couple of months here and hope to make it back again one day. Love yall IMMENSELY!

It was perfect from first to last day. Santiago picked me up, provided me with food and i got to stay in the old family house on the farm. He and everyone on the farm were super chill and easy to talk to (as far as my spanish would allow for haha). Work was versatile as well, I got to do various tasks on the farm and was pretty flexible and at times autonomous with it all. Also the whole concept of the eco farm, and its products is simply great and to be endorsed!! So all in all a 100% nice exüerience and full recommendation Thanks again Santiago!!

Huge thanks to Jimmy and Lisa for taking such good care of me! My days volunteering on their farm were absolutely amazing—I picked up so much, rode a motorbike to explore Tubba Island, and could go for a swim whenever I wanted, the experience was just perfect! Jimmy’s totally awesome: he designed and built their house all by himself, he’s super knowledgeable and has tons of artistic flair. Lisa’s so warm and kind, and she’s full of love too. They’re the most wonderful couple ever, and they’ve turned their farm into a little slice of heaven. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to do farm volunteering—you won’t regret it! Wishing Jimmy and Lisa good health, all the best, and endless happiness ✨

On arrival i was greeted with warmth and kindness, this continued until the end of my stay. Mahendra has an encyclopaedic knowledge of each plant in and around his farm. Each day i would learn how to care for the many different fruit trees and help maintain the farm. The food was so incredibly delicious and opened my eyes to the traditional delicacies. The farm is stunningly beautiful, endless blue skies, amber forests and mountain horizons. The richness of wildlife is magnificent with parakeets and hornbills flying between the fruiting trees. This will be a place i'll never forget :) thank you very much Mahendra

I had an amazing Woofing experience in Mexico and couldn’t recommend it more. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and included as part of the family. The work was fair, well explained, and genuinely rewarding—I learned so much about sustainable living, local agriculture, and daily life in the community. What really made the experience special was the cultural exchange: shared meals, conversations, and the chance to practice Spanish while learning about Mexican traditions. The location was beautiful, the atmosphere was relaxed and respectful, and there was a great balance between work and free time to explore the area. I’m leaving with new skills, great memories, and friendships I’ll definitely carry with me. A truly enriching and positive Woofing experience.

I stayed at KSTR for a little bit more than a month as my first WWOOF experience. It is a great place to get to know many other volunteers from all over the world. At the moment there a lot of changes happening, especially when it comes to WWOOF. The time ive been there i did a lot of different tasks, not only connected to farming, like painting and construction. That was a not was i expected at all. Nevertheless because they are new on WWOOF its a work in progress. Now there is much more work on the farm that will keep you occupied on that side of the project. They also started to do volunteer meetings again, to know the needs of everyone, not only work related, to work on that. Despite that I enjoyed my time there and can recommend it to everyone that wants to meet a lot kind and friendly people and work in a tropical environment.

Located next to the beautiful Lake Chapala, San Juan offers a peaceful environment for those looking to experience non-touristy Mexico — the place where Santiago and Saku have built their home. Just outside the town center, it offers the perfect balance between tranquility and the lively streets of San Juan Cosalá. Communication with the hosts was 10/10 — they were always responsive and provided all the information one could need before arriving. During our time there, we felt incredibly welcomed and appreciated. They truly care about the well-being of their volunteers. The space is quite small; however, there is enough room to enjoy some privacy or spend time with the community. Santiago and Saku shared so much knowledge about the surroundings and life in the area, making it easy to explore on your own and experience authentic small-town Mexican life. Daily tasks mainly involved gardening — watering, planting, and some minor construction work. They are very open-minded and genuinely welcome ideas and input, so don’t hesitate to share your thoughts with them. We just want to thank Santiago and Saku for this incredible experience — and cheers to new friendships. Hopefully, we’ll see you again soon! P.S. Give all your love to Güera (the dog and the true soul of the community).

I had an excellent stay with Samba. Even though I reached out very last minute and could only stay for a few days, Samba was very accommodating and welcoming. The hut he built for his guests is incredible, clean, great toilet, good signal and it made for a wonderfully comfortable stay. Although it was an off season at the farm we found fun things to do like visiting a nearby waterfall, learning to build a hut and helping out in the garden. Highly recommend!
