We are a small, welcoming host living in a peaceful village in Southern Serbia, surrounded by nature and a simple, rural way of life. Our home is a cozy farm where we raise 80 goats, 35 sheeps and 7 pigs, with a focus on traditional goat milking and homemade cheese production. We take pride in our self-sufficient lifestyle, with access to technical water and electricity on the property. Our farm is also home to three friendly cats and three loyal dogs, who add warmth and joy to daily life. We live in a quiet, scenic area, perfect for those who appreciate the countryside and want to experience authentic farm work. Please note that we ask volunteers to stay no less than 2 weeks on the farm. We recommend a stay of 1 mounth (since the more a volunteer stays, the more work is gonna be easy). The farm can host up to five volunteers. Two volunteers can help for the two essential tasks of the farm : carying for animals and preparing goat’s milk. The other volunteers can help in other remaining tasks. For accommodation, there are two different private apartments with a double bed, a small kitchen, and a private bathroom in each one, ensuring comfort during your time with us. If there are already 4 volunteers and a last (but not least) 5th volunteer comes, he/she will have a private bedroom but shared bathroom and kitchen (the main bathroom and kitchen everyone can use during free time and meals). Each volunteer is provided with towels and bed sheets. What we offer: Hands-on experience in goat, sheep and pig care, milking, and cheese-making. A chance to connect with nature and learn about sustainable farming. A peaceful environment to relax and enjoy the simplicity of rural life. We’re excited to welcome volunteers who share our passion for farming, animals, and a slower pace of life! Our daily farm life is centered around goat, sheep and pig care, with a strong focus on traditional milking, animal feeding, and homemade cheese production. We’re excited to share our knowledge and hands-on experience with WWOOFers, helping them learn the ins and outs of sustainable farming. How a day looks like : We pay special attention to be a team in which everyone feels good and can learn new skills in farming. The first volunteer (3 hours in the morning, 2 hours in the late afternoon) starts about 7am and finishes about 10am, then has a break till 5pm and finally works from 5pm to 7pm. This volunteer cares for the animals and work in the stable : feeding the animals, milking the goats, and collecting fresh milk for cheese production, walking the goats out to pasture. Afterward, cleaning the barns and ensuring the animals are comfortable. The second volunteer (5 hours work and 2 hours pause from about 11:30am to 18:30pm) works on the different stages of milk preparation and provides maintenance for the milkhouse. If there are other volunteers, they can help for the rest of the chores : getting the meals ready for everyone, working on farm maintenance or seasonal tasks, and developing new things for the farm. It is always possible to take part in different tasks (and not to do always the same thing), if someone wants to discover something specific on the farm – feel free to ask it ! The goal is that volunteers do tasks together in order to have a common sharing. Except daily routines, tasks may vary from time to time, but anymay never last more than 5 hours. Free Time: Volunteers have the rest of the day to relax, explore the village, or enjoy the peaceful surroundings. There is a resting area on the farm with a beautiful on view on mountains Days Off: Saturday and Sunday are a rest days for everyone—no work, just time to recharge or explore the area. We offer three daily meals (breakfast when you get up, lunch at around 11pm, and dinner at 7pm), prepared with fresh, local ingredients—often including dairy products from our farm, such as homemade goat cheese, as well as seasonal vegetables and traditional Serbian dishes. As much as possible, we try and love to share meals because it's a nice moment of socializing and exchange of ideas or life experiences. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music and taking peaceful walks around the countryside. For volunteers, there’s plenty to explore nearby! The farm is surrounded by beautiful nature, perfect for hiking in the scenic hills of Southern Serbia. Just 1 kilometer away, there’s a river where you can relax, swim, or enjoy a refreshing dip after a day of farm work.

Branko showed great hospitality and attention during the 10 days I spent with him and I really enjoyed my stay. The work on the farm is a demanding job and quite physical but during free time we had awesome moments of sharing and joy. I worked at various tasks : milking goats, walking them in the forest, preparing bottles of whey, feeding the pigs, cooking for everyone and taking care of the kitchen. Branko made me discover the south of Serbia, for which I am very grateful. I highly recommend !

Throughout our two-week stay at Maksina Farma Koza, we followed the same routine every day. One of us mainly fed and cleaned up after the goats, sheep, and pigs. We usually worked alone, and on a few occasions, we worked together with other WWOOFers. The other person mainly helped with cheese making, such as monitoring the temperature, transferring milk and whey, cutting the cheese, and cleaning the equipment. We also joined them on delivery trips. The most interesting part was taking the goats up into the mountains with the dogs, Medenjuca, Tzorni, and Srun (spelling may not be exact). The cats without names were also cute. In our free time, we were taken to the river, hot spring pools, and a local wine and grape festival. We enjoyed the local atmosphere and culture through interacting with local people.

A very pleasant farm where I was able to take part in a wide variety of activities, from cheese production and goat milking to construction and renovation work. The atmosphere was excellent, and Branko is very dedicated to helping us discover his country and providing us with an unforgettable experience. The rooms are very comfortable. An experience I highly recommend!

I absolutely loved spending a month at Branko's farm! It was an incredible experience that will be engraved in my memory forever. Every morning from 7:00 to 11:00, I helped renovate, clean, and replace various things around the farm. From 11:00 to 12:00, we made cheese. Then in the afternoon, we rested, did some more cheese-making, and from 16:00 to 19:00, it was the same as the morning routine, which included feeding and watering the animals (goats, sheep, and pigs). It was an amazing experience, and I learned so much. All the animals are adorable, and the region is beautiful. Thank you, Branko!

I spend a very nice time at Branko's. Every morning I would go to the city with Branko to deliver some milk products and get fresh milk and we stopped to chat with some friends of him and drink tea. In the afternoon we made the cheese and have a little free time to take a nap, go for a walk with the dogs or do what you want. I loved learning about cheese making and it was very satisfying to do. It was realy a great experience !
