Hutsul Horses and Natural Gardening Farm based on agroecological principles
Poland
Hi, we are a family of 3 (Marta 39, Damian 52, Zofia 9), and we run a sustainable horse farm in Sudety mountains in the South West of Poland. It's a very beautiful, rural area which is scarcely inhabited and has a lot to offer for people who love being in nature.
We are sharing our land with currently 20 horses, two dogs and cats, chicken, ducks and guinnea fowls. The horses are mostly hutsuls which is an endangered carpathian mountain breed. We go for trail rides in our mountains, while training horses we use relation based methods focused on building partnership through trust.
Our second love is gardening. We garden naturally inspired by permaculture ways and collect our own seeds which we then share within our local community. Since a few years we are engaged in a community seed bank and organize seed swaps a few times a year. We are very much focused on the principles of agroecology and try to design our farm in a sustainable way enhancing biodiversity and building healthy soil using compost, no dig methods, cover crops, crop rotation, agroforestry,...
We speak polish, german and english very well.
First of all we enjoy cultural exchange with people from all over the world, get to know Your ways of living, cuisine, customs, and practice languages :)
- We have 20 years of experience running a horse farm, breeding hutsul horses, handling foals and starting them to be experienced trail horses. We can share all kind of know-how connected with that.
- We can share our experience with natural self sufficient gardening (vegetables and herbs), seed saving, growing and caring for fruit trees (apples, pears, plums and cherries) and every day farm work like feeding and caring for animals, making hay, wood work and fencing, etc.
- We have knowledge building natural swimming ponds and natural habitat ponds
- There are a lot of riding opportunities for somebody who has basic horse riding skills.
- It would be lovely if you could engage with our daughter, practice english. We also welcome families with children at similar age.
These are activities which you can join us with.
We have a little seperate appartement within our house with two beds, a bathroom and toilet and a little kitchen corner (fridge, sink, electric cooker).
We would love to prepare and have dinners (warm meals) together. For breakfast and suppers we will provide you with good healthy products preferably from the garden.
You can join us at our off farm activities, like meeting friends, hiking in the mountains, biking, seed swaps, football games, music events. You can use our electric bike to get around, f.e. to get to tourist attractions or to the local market in town
