Regenerative Family Hill Farm
Slovenia
//We’re open for WWOOFers between June 15 and June 30, 2026, and again after September 20, 2026. The rest of our summer is already filled with WWOOFers, chickens, garden work, and all the little adventures that come with farm life – so those spots are already taken.//
Hi, we are Gorazd, Tatjana, Ajda and Neža. We live in the mountain village of Dražgoše in northwestern Slovenia. A few years ago, we took over our family hill farm and started developing it under the name Urban Jr., with a strong focus on regenerative practices.
The farm is surrounded by forests and pastures. We raise laying hens, meat chickens, sheep and ponies. Egg production is an important part of our work — we supply local families, restaurants and a nearby school. We operate a small registered egg packing facility where eggs are collected, sorted and packed daily.
Our work follows the rhythm of the seasons. Mornings usually begin with feeding animals, checking water systems and collecting eggs. Depending on the season, the day may include pasture management, moving fencing, gardening, fruit harvesting, preparing firewood or general maintenance work. Part of the farmhouse is also being gradually renovated, so there are occasional practical tasks in that area as well.
We participated in a regenerative farming Masterclass with Richard Perkins and continue to develop our farm using holistic and regenerative principles. WWOOFers can learn about pasture-based systems, small-scale egg production, animal care and the practical mindset behind regenerative agriculture. No previous experience is required — only reliability, curiosity and a willingness to work outdoors.
🌿 Living on the farm
WWOOFers stay in a large, fully equipped farmhouse located directly on the farm, about 800 meters from our family home. The space is a private apartment that volunteers usually have to themselves, offering both independence and comfort while still being connected to daily farm life.
There are three bedrooms to choose from, a spacious kitchen with a dining area, a bathroom, a balcony, and a large inner courtyard. On the ground floor, there is also a large dining room that once served as a traditional local inn.
The farmhouse is furnished in a traditional style. Camping on the farm is also possible.
We are present on the farm throughout the day, working alongside you.
🌿 Food & daily life
We provide food and basic ingredients. Meals can be prepared independently, or you are welcome to join us at our family table. We try to use as many products from our farm as possible.
We are an active family. Sports and nature are part of our routine, and music is present in our home — our daughter plays the cello. The surrounding area offers hiking trails, forests and swimming spots in summer. The Julian Alps and Karavanke mountains are within reach, and Ljubljana is about an hour away.
🌿 Why WWOOF?
When we were students, we traveled together as backpackers and experienced how important human connection can be. Through WWOOF, we continue this exchange — opening our farm to people from different backgrounds and cultures, and allowing our daughters to grow up with that openness.
We are looking for responsible, open-minded people who enjoy nature, animals and practical, hands-on work.

The nearest airport is Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport (Brnik). The closest train stations are Škofja Loka and Kranj. There are bus stops in Železniki and Dražgoše, with a bus service to Dražgoše running twice a day.

I had a really great time at this farm ☺️ Gorazd is extremely hard working and very passionate about farming. He explains everything very patiently, so it is possible to learn really a lot from him! The farm has laying hens, meat chickens, horses and sheep. I really liked the regenerative and animal friendly farming style 💓 The animals are moved regularly and almost everything gets reused in some way.
About the daily work: In the mornings we always fed the animals. Later we built fences, worked in the garden, inspected the eggs or cleaned the animal shelters. But everyday was always different.
Also the location is really beautiful and I had my own room with an amazing mountain view. The family was very kind, gave many travel tips and even lent me a bicycle to visit Bled and Bohinj.

I stayed at the farm for 3 weeks, and I loved it! It is a beautiful place with a fantastic view. The host family is super nice and happy to help you plan things to do in the area. They have chickens and sheep, and I really enjoyed taking care of them. I was allowed to give the lamb milk 5 times a day; this was so much fun, building a bond with a little lamb. I really feel like I learned so much about farming. They really want you to learn new things. I had plenty of free time to explore. And every evening we ate together, which I always found very cozy. A super nice farm to visit, I definitely recommend it. I hope that one I can visit them again! ❤️🐓🐏
