I am a hands-on creator and experimenter who owns a rural homestead in Varėna district, Lithuania, surrounded by forests, fields and plenty of space to build and test different ideas. My background is technical and creative. I am interested in mechanics, tools, simple construction and DIY projects, and I also create video content about rural life, creative processes and outdoor activities.
I live in this homestead mainly during the summer season together with my family, and during the rest of the year the place is continuously being developed through various projects and improvements. The homestead is gradually becoming an active rural experience space. It is not a traditional farm, but more like a living workshop and an open-air experimental space.
The core of my project is to create a place where people can take part in real, meaningful activities: building, repairing, improving the environment, testing creative ideas and learning through practice. Some days are physically active, others are calmer and more creative. The goal is to offer an environment where people can disconnect from city life and reconnect with simple, real living in nature.
People who come here are not just guests, they become part of the process. We create, improve, test ideas and share experiences together. In the future I plan to grow this place into a small community space for workshops, camps and experiential stays.
There are typical rural animals on the homestead, as well as a lot of wildlife around. The environment is calm, green and quiet, but the place itself is alive, constantly evolving and focused on activity rather than passive relaxation.
This place is ideal for people who enjoy practical work, creativity, outdoor life and who want to experience something real instead of just being tourists.
Our homestead activities are diverse and very natural to rural life. We have an orchard with fruit trees, where we take care of apple trees, pears, plums and other trees, as well as a vegetable garden where we grow different vegetables for daily use. A large part of the work is related to land care, planting, watering, weeding and harvesting.
We also keep bees, so some activities are related to beekeeping: taking care of the hives, observing the bees, harvesting honey and learning about the whole process from hive to table. This is a great opportunity for people who want to understand how natural honey is produced.
There is a small pond on the homestead, which we maintain by cleaning the banks, observing wildlife and using it as a place for rest and nature observation. The area is surrounded by forests and meadows, so a lot of time is spent on maintaining the territory, caring for paths and improving the overall infrastructure of the place.
The homestead is also very attractive to wild animals. Deer, moose, foxes and wild boars often visit the area, and sometimes it is even possible to see a lynx. Because of this, the whole place is full of wildlife, and visitors have a unique chance to experience nature very closely.
Besides traditional farming activities, many tasks are related to DIY projects: simple construction, repair work, reusing old materials, and experimenting with tools and different ideas.
We would like to teach WWOOFers how real rural life looks: how to take care of a garden and orchard, how to work with bees, how to plan work according to the seasons, how to live closer to nature and produce more things by yourself.
A typical day usually starts with light morning tasks such as checking the garden, watering plants, looking after the bees or cleaning the surroundings. Then we work on one main project, which can be construction, repairs or creative work. In the afternoon there is usually time to relax, swim in the pond, walk in the forest or work on personal projects. In the evening we often cook together, talk, share experiences and plan the next day.
There is no strict schedule or repetitive routine. Activities change depending on the season, weather and people, but they are always focused on meaningful, real work and living in nature.
We really enjoy good, tasty and healthy food, so meals are an important and enjoyable part of life at our homestead. We use a lot of our own produce from the vegetable garden and orchard, as well as forest resources such as berries, mushrooms and herbs when they are in season.
We have several outdoor cooking options, including a traditional Italian-style pizza oven, a large cauldron (kazan) for cooking over fire, a grill and a simple outdoor kitchen setup. Cooking here is not just a routine, but a creative and social activity. We often prepare meals together, experiment with recipes, and enjoy long shared dinners.
WWOOFers are welcome to join the whole process: harvesting vegetables, collecting forest food, preparing ingredients and cooking. It is a great way to learn about seasonal eating, simple rural cuisine and how to make good food with basic tools and natural products.
Accommodation is simple, comfortable and close to nature. Depending on the season, WWOOFers stay in a separate guest room, a small guest house, a caravan or a tent. The environment is calm and rural, with basic facilities for sleeping, washing and resting.
The goal is not luxury, but a warm, friendly and real living experience: good food, shared work, open fire, nature around and a sense of community.
In my free time I am very active and enjoy outdoor and technical hobbies. I like hiking in forests, kayaking on rivers, cycling and riding motorcycles. I am also interested in old and vintage machinery, repairing and maintaining mechanical things, and learning how different systems work.
I am a volunteer soldier, so discipline, physical activity and practical skills are a natural part of my life. This also reflects in the projects we do at the homestead: a lot of hands-on work, learning by doing and staying active.
Music is also an important part of the atmosphere here. I mostly listen to electronic music such as techno, psytrance, trance and other electronic styles. Music often plays during work or in the evenings and helps create a relaxed, creative and open environment.
Overall, the lifestyle here is active, simple and connected to nature, with a mix of physical work, technical projects, outdoor activities and good energy
