Organic daily farm in the hill
Vietnam
I am an English teacher in primary school. I live in Bac Giang city with my family but I have a farm in my countruside where my parents live and do there. I want to make organic farm to serve our daily life and educate the children about farm, living skills for kids and make international communication environment for kids, too.
You can usually find me out feeding organic vegetables, clean atmosphere with paddy field and hill. We raise animal and plant fruit trees and the other healthy products, too.
You can work together, plant vegetables, fruit tree and take care our garden. On addition, you can help the children understanding about organic environment or take part in some activities with them, too.
We eat 3 meals together with products that we plant, grow and make.
We have a bulgalow and full of accommodations there.
I like travelling, cooking and reading books.
We can go hiking, go swimming and the other activities in the other places at the weekend when we have time.
According to the local police, WWOOFing constitutes a "grey area." It's still considered labor, not a tourist visa. Therefore, to be legal, you should voluntarily share a small portion of the daily food and utility costs with the homeowner. This would be legal under the "experiential tourism" model and would be risk-free for both of us. I'd like to ask for your opinion on this matter. Do you agree? Just $5-7 per day. You can find more information on this on Google; we only want to comply with the law and have no ill intentions. If you use work visa or labor visa, free for all.
Please understand it. Thanks a lot

I was wonderfully welcomed by the whole family, with a special mention for the grandparents we live with every day, who are incredibly kind and generous. The work is varied and keeps each day interesting, from planting to garden maintenance, and I learned a lot throughout the experience. Sharing meals is definitely a highlight, we cook together for lunch and dinner, and the food prepared by the family is absolutely delicious, creating really warm and friendly moments. There is also a lively atmosphere around the farm, with the regular presence of the family’s children and those from the neighborhood.
It was an authentic and human experience, thanks!

I really enjoyed my stay here! Staying the grandparents on the farm provided a really unique and authentic opportunity to experience daily life in Vietnam. We worked for a couple hours in the morning and then had a break after lunch before working for another couple hours before dinner. Tasks included planting, shoveling soil, cooking, and cleaning. I also taught a couple improvised English classes to neighbor kids.
It felt very apparent that there are strong gender roles regarding the work, and I was often told to wash the dishes or help cook meals instead of shovel or do other forms of work. With that said, everything we ate was from the farm and very delicious and fresh, so it was fun to learn how to cook many local dishes.
The sleeping quarters are simple but I was quite comfortable and it can be very peaceful. My only complaint is that the volunteers sleeping area also is used a kids play house and was not at all private. All of the kids are very sweet, but it was challenging the lack of boundaries between the volunteer space and where the kids played loudly (such as when we were all trying to rest)…
With that said, it was also special and fun to experience living around a multi generational family/community. Min and her family are incredibly kind and generous. I left the farm feeling much more at peace and rested than when I showed up. I would definitely recommend this, especially if you enjoying spending time with kids!

I was welcomed so warmly, and treated like a part of the family and the work was also varied. A mix of cooking, cleaning, physical labour (bit of construction, harvesting and planting).
Shared lots of tasty meals with many family members, who were all so kind and generous.
I would definitely recommend Volunteering here to get a real feel for Vietnamese local life.

Very warm and welcoming family and a great way to experience (farm)life in Vietnam. Tasty and local food every day, collaborate working in the fields (harvesting/planting) and on the farm (construction, cleaning). But most importantly enjoy the company of the (big) family. We can definitely recommend this place!

We had a great stay at nufarm with the parents of Minh. The work was hard but very interesting in the fields and garden. Workhours where from 8 to 11, usually with a break around 10, then from 14h30 or 15h until 17 or 18 , depending on the weather. The grandmother is cooking amazing meal, is patient with us and took time to explain things with us (using a translator, none of the grandparents speak English).
Then nearly every day's, kid where coming after school with their parents to practice English. They are full of energy and very joyful, but at the end of the work day it can be very exhausting.
On the week end, Minh and her whole family took times to bring us wherever they goes and it was lovely, we will miss their company !
Because we were feeling so tired we had to shorten our stay from 2 weeks to 1 week, and her and her family accepted it the best way possible, thank you so much !
To this day, the bungalow is not build yet, so we slept in the living room with the grandfather. Also part of the experience was that we had not so much privacy, and never known what will happen in a few minutes (the schedule).
We learned a lot about the fantastic amount of orchard trees they have, and truly experienced the life of farmers in the countryside of Vietnam.
