Inti Nan’i YachayWasi is focused on environmental stewardship and Inka cultural preservation. We are situated in the original indigenous high plains community of Lampa de Pampas (The Puna) at 4080 m altitude. Our community of volunteers learn ancient ways of being and living in connection to the earth by contributing to: *Herding and caring for llamas and sheep and seasonally collecting cow dung for fire *Building green houses and learning how to grow food in a place above tree line using ancient and sustainable techniques; *Permaculture construction like rammed earth masonary and thatched roofs (no experience required, you'll learn for sure ) * Restoration of various small outbuildings *Learn about how the ancestors on this land lived and there ways of living; *Learn Inka ancestral practises that foster care for our personal, our environmental and collective well-being. Your Hosts: Wanka Puriy (Quechua: Walking Altar) The one walking towards the center. My given name is Moises Alfaro III and I am originally from the Philippines and then moved to Canada where I spent 11 years to specialize in Geotechnical Engineering. I came to Peru to volunteer as a Project Manager at Inti Muju for the INTI NAN’I Yachaywasi Project. The Yachaywasi Project brings so much alignment in my being, where I can finally bring my wholeness for a specific cause that resonates with my Highest Self. As someone who never learned my indigenous cultural roots, I have committed myself to help in the preservation and revitalization of the Knowledge and Wisdom held by indigenous communities on this planet. I live at the YachayWasi and am your guide while we work with community and helpers to maintain and grow our creatively sustainable YachayWasi while experiencing the awe and wonder of nature and cosmos. Illa Wari My name is Lanzon and I am an indigenous youth with ancestral roots in the community. I carry the Eagle and Condor teachings like my family before and I am here to give back. I graduated from high school and a taking the year just to be. In Canada, I was an Elder's Helper with a family reunification healing home for parents and children. I am a project leader, and host at the Yachaywasi and I love to cook. My family is here and we welcome you. Bobby (the dog) Antaurko Pachakamaq Project Founder Antaurko Patsakamaq is a Mallku Inka, Inka Spiritual Master and Mystic Visionary from the Chawpin Quechua Community in Peru. He began Inti Muju, a not for profit organization that creates initiatives to revitalize indigenous cultures and share the ancestral wisdom with the world. Through the Offering of Inti Muju, Antaurko brings the universal vision to restore the sacred relationship with the natural laws of Mother Earth and cosmos and weave the well-being of humanity. We value environmental leadership and we are knowledge keepers for the preservation of indigenous culture. Inka ancestral teachings and traditions illustrate the profound and intrinsic connection between humankind and Pachamama, our Mother Earth. Inti Nan’i YachayWasi exists in harmony with ancestral Andean traditions, and preserves Inka spiritual practices that emphasize a deep connection with Mother Earth. You will learn about llama husbandry, permaculture and sustainability through the lens of the Andean people offering a unique opportunity to connect with the land and its spiritual essence. This holistic approach to living emphasizes harmony with nature and reverence for all living things Our day begins early, making our breakfast and setting our llamas out to pasture. The Inti Nan'i YachayWasi, like all farms in La Puna, is free range. There are no fences or boundaries here, only a vast expanse of pampas for our livestock to pasture. Day to day activities will vary and include activities like: Traditional animal husbandry (llama, sheep, horse) Harvesting wild Ichu grass for making original thatched roofs, ropes of grass, and for use in the mixture of tapial walls Identification and sustainable harvesting of local medicinal and edible plants Reintroduction of original farming practises Ongoing construction of Green Houses and Chicken Coups Andean Teachings and ceremonies on the land Aquaponic design development Working and collaborating with community members The Lampa de Pampas original community offers a pristine and natural environment, virtually untouched by modern times. As Pampa de Lampas is located at 4080 m on a high plateau, we are above the natural tree line and the lands are mostly for free range pasture. We have a solar light and an ample source of pure glacial water running through the rivers and distributaries. YachayWasi and the community does not have electricity, running water, heat, showers or Wifi. We offer very rustic and basic shared accommodations - a room with 4 beds and another with 3, including all bedding and warm blankets. There is also space to camp for those with their own gear to use. YachayWasi is just beginning its capacity to grow fresh veggies and raising small animals like foul and cuy. We currently bring our food staples into the community and generously share with the foods with our WOOFERs and volunteers. We provide basic vegetarian staples such as grain/pulse dishes rice and legumes. La Puna offers time plenty to contemplate in a place immemorial. This violates the site's rules because it requires a financial contribution. This contribution is also enormous, at $90 USD per week. It is against the site's rules to request a financial contribution.

We had a unique experience in the high plain at 4000m. The place is amazing, in the middle of nature facing great mountain. The house is rustique but we met kind people, had honest conversation and we can help with a lot of work for this project! We recommand it for sure

Had a wonderful time at the Puna. The place is a paradise with the most beautiful sunrises, sunsets and night skies I’ve seen. Magical times with Wanka, Lanson, the dogs, the llamitas, garden plants, wildlife and the mountains. Highly recommend it.

We visited this project in early May and stayed for two weeks, situated amongst the beauty of the Andes! We truly enjoyed our WWOOFing experience here as we helped to pasture Llamas and sheep, as well as assisting with light construction of the greenhouses. Our hosts provided a warming hospitality and submersed us into local Quechuan culture where possible throughout our stay. Meals were delicious, using fresh local produce and inspiried by tradition. We recommend this project for all travellers who enjoy being amongst the beauty of nature and solitude!
