+++Please apply only if you can stay for at least 3 weeks+++ +++We are full until January the 10th+++ Welcome to Per Auset, a regenerative village and cultural restoration project located on an ancient island in the Nile. Guided by Mostafa, Jasmeen, and Chris, our mission is to breathe life back into a once-deserted Nubian village — honoring its heritage while cultivating a thriving, sustainable future. 🌱 Our Vision We are restoring the village, planting 5,000 trees, and creating abundant gardens that will one day nourish a community of 100 people.
This is more than a project — it is a living temple of regeneration, where ancient wisdom meets modern sustainability. We invite volunteers who are skilled, self-aware, and genuinely dedicated to hands-on work, learning, and cultural exchange. 🛠️ Current Volunteer Roles We are currently welcoming volunteers with skills and passion in: - Permaculture & Gardening: Creating new food forests, vegetable gardens, and Blue Lotus ponds. - Natural Building & Finishing & Architects: Artistic wall painting, decoration, and adding creative touches to our homes and lunch area. - Social Media & Filming: Helping us share our story with the world. - Yoga teachers: Offering Yoga classes to the community. You can expect a mix of community work and individual projects, depending on your skills, interests, and the needs of the season.
Each morning, after breakfast, we gather to plan the day together. We especially welcome women from Egypt, Africa, and the Middle East who feel called to connect with this sacred land, learn, and co-create in a supportive and inspiring environment. 🌞 Life at Per Auset We live as a family, in a rhythm guided by the sun and the Nile.
Our community includes donkeys and cats! We share simple, healthy, mostly plant-based meals together — often home-cooked with vegetables from our gardens.
Food time is sacred here: a moment to connect, laugh, and share reflections of the day. You’ll sleep in shared rooms with shared bathrooms, or you can camp by the Nile or between magical rocks if you prefer.
We live close to nature — swimming, meditating, or watching the golden sunset over the river is part of daily life. 🧭 What to Bring March–October * Work gloves, light clothing, ecological soap, sun lotion, head protection.
(Temperatures are high — hydration and sun care are essential.) October–February * Warm layers and jackets for cool nights.
(Days are sunny, but evenings can be cold.) 🕊️ Our Values & Expectations We welcome volunteers who embody: * Commitment – once you confirm your stay, we count on you. * Motivation & Initiative – you love contributing and learning. * Respect & Gratitude – for nature, culture, and community life. * Sustainability – use ecological products; our greywater nourishes the gardens. * Presence & Awareness – this is a space for reflection, connection, and growth. Minimum stay: 3 weeks, with the possibility to extend (up to 3 months or more). ✨ Getting Here Flights arrive in Cairo, with connections by plane, train, or bus to Aswan.
You can also travel via Luxor (bus or train).
Once you reach Aswan, we’ll welcome you and bring you by boat to the island. 💚 Join the Regeneration If you feel called to join us in restoring this sacred land — to learn, share, and co-create a green paradise — we welcome your heart, hands, and skill. Together, we are rebuilding more than a village.
We are rebuilding harmony between people and nature.

Mine and Caroline's stay at the Island for around 2 weeks was magical! We slept in a tent between the rocks close to the water and worked foremost with building teracesses to make planting possible on this rocky island. We also helped care for the charming goats and donkeys, as well as cooked and helped with smaller tasks. Chris, Mustafa and Jasmeen's project on the Island (which includes creating a spiritual retreat) is fairly new, which means that there's an opportunity to take part in a variety of projects and see the direct effects of your work! Chris is really easy to work with and he gave us a lot of freedom to work on the projects that excited us and were flexible with working hours in the sense on which days and at what time during the days we wanted to work. Moreover, we really appreciated sharing the space with the Egyptian workers who showed a lot of love and helped us whenever we needed it!
