I am Alexander, Irish, 19 and my friend Anthony, Ugandan, 24 are beginning to form our projects for the community, especially the batwa of bwindi. Anthony has had his project for nearly a year while mine has started in summer of 24. We live on lake Bunyonyi the southwest of Uganda and our project is aimed at self sustainability, helping the communities around us and the batwa. We are the only two permanent dwellers while volunteers come and go. As of yet we have no pets but hopefully soon we shall.
Usually there is construction to do or simple farming like picking passion fruits, onions or other foods. We wake up early and work for most of the day but as a volunteer, you will have all the time to work and enjoy the paradise. We would like to teach you about farming, African style, how to survive in equatorial Africa and spread love, always.
As of now we have 3 beds at Anthony’s place and soon to have 2 more at mine. They are very near to each other and easy to access with our boat. Meals are breakfast, lunch and dinner. Times are usually 8am/1pm/8pm. We have a gas cooker but like to use the local methods of simple fires as much as we can. The accommodation is simple but beautiful and enough room for everything.
We have a lake on both of our doorsteps so we always swim, it is also a form of our bathing. We love football as well and play as much as we can. Cooking is an art in Africa so we will treat you to some beautiful meals! Anything you want to do here you can. We also love Reggae :).
