Organic rice and vegetables production
Philippines
I was a former WWOF Farm Host back in 2013, but sadly our WWOF Philippines website is down for years now. So I joined WWOOF Independents.
Our farm is located in San Jose del Monte Bulacan it's 20 to 30 minutes away from Metro Manila. Our farm is near Mount Balagbag and other beautiful waterfalls and nature.
Our vision is simple F.A.I.T.H. -
Food Always In The Home
To produce our own food from rice to veggies, poultry, piggery and having goats and fishes. Our aim is to simply grow and know your own food because what we eat from the market or groceries we don't know how it was produced.
We have established this vision ten years ago, but circumstances and situations like different farm helpers needing to leave, yearly typhoons, droughts then sometimes earth quakes have given us the challenges to restart and re do the farm all over again..
So every WWOOFER who comes is given the freedom to tell their observations and suggest and do it with the host. Every WWOOFer can be creative in their own ways, that when they leave, they leave a proof of a lasting memory ( which is their own project )..We learn through sharing our ideas and doing it. And lastly, our farm is family oriented, every WWOOfer gets to experience having a loving family and extended relatives and as I always say, "once a WWOOFER with us, you will be a part of our family and whenever you come to the Philippines, you have a family welcoming you all the time. "
When it comes to location, I have three locations -
1. In Bulacan which is very near Mount Balagbag and every weekend there are some mountain bikers and backpackers pinch tents. We also have many waterfalls near our farm, all of which can be reached by walking. We also have nearby malls like Starmall and SM San Jose del Monte. We have pigs , goats ,chickens and veggies there.
We also have three beds for WWOOFERs and wifi and two toilets but no tap water in the sink or toilet you have to carry water by 🪣 pail.
2. In Pangasinan, which is near Lingayen beach, and 5 hours by bus from Manila, we have fish ponds, and two beds, with electricity a water system under repairs.
3. Pampanga which is just 2 hours away from Manila ,where we have the nice rice fields on the profile, we plant rice and veggies there. It's also near Rivers and the tribal Aeta Community wherein volunteers can experience 🔥 bonfire on top of views of mountains and sleeping on top of the mountain where the sky is your roof, and they can have immersion with tribal village. There is no electricity here but we can charge phone with some friends in the community.
Lastly, WWOOFERs activities will always depend on the time or season they come in.

I had a wonderful two week visit with Jane! The farm work was great fun, but the real experience was becoming a part of her family and getting to experience rural Filipino living. Outside of the waterfalls in Bulacan, Jane also took us around to Quirino to visit a partner farm and Pampanga to visit the Aeta tribe. She goes above and beyond to show you the heart of the Philippines leaning on her deep relationships she has built over the years. I highly recommend Jane as a host, you never know what you may discover and experience with her.

We are so lucky to have met Mary Jane! Her endless generosity, knowledge and passion for sharing culture amazed us. Spending nearly two weeks with her, we got to learn about native vegetables and farming practices, eat delicious local food, speak to local people and see beautiful mountain and waterfalls. Mary Jane will help you fulfil any wishes you have while travelling with her and in the Philippines. She is a real life saint! Thank you so much for having us MJ, we will see you again.

This farm stay has been a life-changing journey for me. I’ve truly felt the kindness, warmth, hospitality and pure-heartedness of the Filipino people here, and experienced the most beautiful and sincere emotions that make us human. What struck me most is seeing how ordinary Filipino people embrace life so fully even with modest material means — it never stops them from singing, dancing, and celebrating every moment. Their optimistic, positive spirit and deep love for life fill me with immense admiration. A special thank you goes to my host Mary Jane, who has taken care of me in every single detail and treated me with the most genuine care and affection. We connected heart to heart, sharing the most sincere conversations from the bottom of our hearts. And a big thank you to her mother too, such an elegant and generous woman. Together, they treated me like a beloved member of their family, and I have never felt such genuine and heartfelt warmth in my life. I also want to mention their lovely shy daughter, who might just still be getting to know me. I’d also like to thank Mary Jane’s brother – though he’s a man of few words, I could truly feel the warmth and enthusiasm in his heart, and we bonded like real brothers. My gratitude also goes to all the uncles and aunties on the farm, as well as her cousin and his wife — they were all incredibly sincere to me, truly the kindest people in the world. And of course, there’s their eldest son, the cousin’s little boy, such a sweet and...

Thank you Mary Jane, our time at your farm was very adventurous and we will never forget it!
This was our first WWOOFing experience, our first time and our first days at the Philippines. You showed us what everyday-life in rural Philippines looks like.
Some things took a little time for us to get used to (no tap water, no water at the toilet, how we can wash ourselfs without a shower or sink), but that was all part of the experience.
At the first day Mary Jane showed us the farm and very quickly we found a project for the next days ... building a pig pen.
That was great, we found many ressources at the farm (bamboo grows there, fence and wire to connect the logs was somewhere at the farm too).
Our creativity started to flow and we had a lot of freedom to decide what we do and how we do it.
At the end we managed to finish the pig pen and had the best moment when the pigs explored their new home for the first time.
On our last day we did a hike, with Mary Jane and the other WWOOFer who was there at the same time as us, to a mountain nearby and went to a waterfall (where you could wash your clothes).
Mary Jane, we wish you and your family (and the pigs!) all the best for the future.
Thanks for that experience,
Michael & Marsii

Mary Jane is a great host, I unfortunately wasn’t able to do any farming but I learnt a lot from their stories of the farms and of the indigenous tribes. Also learnt a lot about their culture and food as well. I definitely recommend this experience, it makes for a great character building and an escape from the hustle and bustle of the corporate life
