I’m Ha. I was born and raised in a poor village in the middle of central Vietnam and as a child, I dreamt that one day I could make a change within my village and help my local people to live better lives. After graduating from university in Vietnam, I spent more than 5 years living and studying abroad in places such as Israel, Singapore and Denmark. I worked as an agricultural and tourism volunteer in more than 20 countries around the world and at the end of 2021, I returned to my village and started an organic farming and education project. The mission of this project: - Create an environment for cultural exchange between international volunteers, Vietnamese interns and the local Vietnamese community through sharing cuisine, cultural practices, and language. - Provide the village children with free access to English classes; allowing them to learn another language, understand different cultural perspectives, push themselves outside of their comfort zones, build confidence, and develop themselves so that one day, they too can make a change to their hometown. - Preserve traditional agricultural methods, practices, and values by inviting children to visit the farm for a day and experience what it’s like to be a farmer. - Share our knowledge of agriculture and agricultural tourism with the local community and demonstrate how these can help people escape poverty, sustainably. Jobs you can help with: taking care of fruit trees in the garden, keeping the lawn green, creating biodiversity in the garden. Taking care of pets. Use animal feces to raise earthworms. You can learn how to take care of livestock and how to utilize its manure to feed earthworms, then use the earthworm manure to fertilize the garden, harvest fruit in the garden during the harvest season, then learn how to Preparing and soaking traditional wine. There are also activities to help children in the village learn English and help local people with farm work You will stay in the dorm. With fan, sleeping mattress, pillow, blanket… The meals make by my mom with delious food You can trekking the mountain, swimming at the waterfall and lake around the farm. While I greatly appreciate WWFFO’s mission and values, which inspired me to join this community, my experience with this host raised several concerns: 1. Payment for Stay: The host required volunteers to pay for their stay if they stayed less than a month. This practice seems inconsistent with WWFFO’s principle of fair exchange, which emphasizes non-monetary contributions. 2. Lack of Organization: Contrary to the expectations of an organic farm, there was no structured learning or meaningful engagement. The host was rarely present, leaving volunteers to self-organize tasks with little to no guidance. 3. Inadequate Working Conditions: Tasks were often disorganized, and we were expected to work in the rain without proper equipment such as waterproof jackets or boots, which made the experience unnecessarily difficult. 4. Insufficient Meals: The meals provided were inadequate both in quantity and nutritional value for the number of volunteers. I hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future volunteers.

We have discussed with Marco in advance about our rules, we hope the volunteers can stay with us more than 1 month to understanding our rural life and our farm, and when he arrived, we realize that his visa is not enough to stay here for 1 month as he has confirmed with us before, after a week he left without informing us, he didn't talk to us directly about his concerns and he showed he was happy with it all. His teamwork attitude with another volunteer is not there, he didn’t respect Vietnamese farm management volunteers , and we realize that he didn’t have any positive energy, volunteer spirit (not being patient when helping with animal-related work, not being cooperative when receiving feedback from other volunteers, not participating in agricultural activities (gardening, weeding, planting rice, planting vegetables, grass for cows with local people). We cannot change the weather conditions and should learn to accept it especially in a tropical country but he can’t adapt with the living conditions. He is not used to the Vietnamese eating style, especially with a meal that rich in rice and vegetables. We have not get any money from him as he mentioned We do not accept volunteers who are just looking for free accommodation and do not make any positive contribution to the farm. We hope that another farms would not have the same experiences like that.
