Organic farm at a beachfront hotel
Costa Rica
Hello WWOOFers, we are a lovely little hotel on a quiet beach in the Nicoya Peninsula, one of five Blue Zones in the world. We generally focus on yoga retreats, but occasionally we are open to the public as well. The tranquility, silence, and nature here are unparalleled. We don't keep any pets, but it doesn't mean we are without friends- birds, butterflies, iguanas, red squirrels, foxes, raccoons, howler monkeys, pozotes, and a myriad of others live on our property. Its not uncommon to find local bull and a couple of his friends wandering in off the beach to have a drink from our salt water pool with a couple of his friends in tow.
Our property has seemingly endless trees that give off fruit depending on the season (limes, mandarins, grapefruit, starfruit, guanabana, hibiscus, ylang ylang, marignon, mangos upon mangos, kumquats, mangosteens, merenga, it seems every day a new one is coming into fruit or flower). Currently in the process of installing a giant greenhouse on property to help grown our own organic food for use in our restaurant. The main focus of any WWOOFers would be the tending to, rotation, and harvesting of this greenhouse on a day to day basis with integration in the culinary program in mind. We have an agricultural architect doing the installation, and he will provide significant instructions through the initial phases. Seeking passionate individuals to stay at the helm, each bringing their own individual touch to our community garden.
We have on site housing that is dedicated for staff. If we have the availability during the stay, we will also rotate people into hotel rooms so they can enjoy the place from the view of our guests. We have a fully functional, local, seasonal kitchen that puts out three meals a day for our guests. These meals will also be available for WWOOFers! Local seafood, fresh veggies, rice and beans (wouldn't be Costa Rica without it!, and other lovely fare. Our entire culinary program is gluten and dairy free, and vegetarian/vegan friendly as well.
In Costa Rica its all about the nature. The "office" from which we are typing this description is 50 ft from a gorgeous tropical beach. Surfboards and kayaks are on property and free to be used as well. Outings such a jungle hikes, scuba diving, and sea turtle tours are also availalbe, and the prices vary depending on the group and time of year. That being said, the vendors are our friends, and we will definitely help any volunteers get family pricing on any activities they wish to enjoy.
