=> Ignore the wwoof calendar when sending your request - it does not reflect our actual calendar & availability
We have a productive organic farm with permaculture principles. With a small cattle herd with calves, which roams the grassland in summer and is in the barn in winter. We have silvoarable and silvopastoral systems in place and plan to plant even more trees. We believe trees and hedges are the key to making our land more resilient towards the changing climate. There is a self-pick vegetable garden for about 50 customers, which includes berries and herbs.
Biodiversity is a huge factor for us, so we'll do everything to ensure and increase biodiversity on our land.
We is a family of four, Dave and Tillie with the two boys Mag (7) and Urs (10), Dave's a mechanic and farmer, Tillie studied agricultural sciences and used to teach agriculture at a vocational school. Now both are full time farmers.
- Vegetable farming: no dig in compost, maintaining garden, answering customers questions, replanting, starting seed, harvesting and preserving
- cattle: feeding, fencing, checking health, tending to newborn calves, relocating herd
- arable crops: weeding and harvesting
- trees: pruning, planting, watering, harvesting
- biodiversity: building and maintaining structures
- grassland: mowing, weeding
Your accomodation is in a RV (on site with access to shower and toilet or in a rustic cabin, which will keep you warm and dry as well. Sometimes RVs are shared with other travellers (same gender, no worries), depending on how many people we are hosting at the same time. We make sure that everybody feels comfortable and safe.
At least one meal a day will be eaten with the family (usually lunch) access to the outside kitchen is granted too, breakfast is individual and the dinner is usually cooked among the volunteers in the outside kitchen.
meals can be whatever you wish/need, we eat everything but can adapt to almost any requirements
work trade - after a year of testing and talking to our wwoofers we found that full days of work are ideal for both parties; so we expect four days of work per week stay (monday through thursday), friday to sunday (three days) are off.
Ideally you arrive on a Sunday evening or Monday morning. We will pick you up at the train station. Talk to us!
The ideal length of your stay is three weeks.
A typical day on Gaia's Farm:
Our farm day starts at 8 am with checking the animals, then about half a day is spent in the vegetable garden, maintaining and replanting the garden, after lunch around 1:30 pm we'll go to the fields and work on them (manually or mechanically, we do have tractors and such :-). the day ends between 5 and 5:30 and then it is time to wind down.
In summer there is a lot to do; hiking, swimming in the nearby lake, cycling (we have hills), forest barbecue fires, foraging, etc.
Pfeffikon is not remote, so there is public transport to every place in Switzerland you can imagine, and it's quite easy to understand.
Please write in your message that you have read the house rules and agree to them:
- keep workspace tidy and clean up after yourself and after your work
- common chores (regardless of work) are: dishes, tidying and cleaning common areas (bathroom, kitchen), etc.
- RV was bought especially for wwoofers, so please keep it clean and clean it thoroughly before your departure
- tools are handled with care, cleaned and put back where taken
- we provide food and I am happy to cook, but help around meals is expected and appreciated, especially setting and clearing the table, running and clearing the dish wasjer
- breakfast is individual, work starts at 8, lunch together (everybody helps) and dinner is individual depending also on your plan, weekends are freer

I had a really nice time at Gaia’s farm! Tilika always explained the work super clearly and was very easy to reach if you ran into a problem/had additional questions. She was also very flexible with working hours. The RV was a nice place to sleep, I woke up with a view of the forest and blossoming trees every morning. Some nights were cold but we got plenty of blankets to stay warm (and there was also a heater and electricity)! It was nice to be there with a group of other wwoofers, we did activities together and often cooked together at night. The lunch was delicious and always a nice time together with everyone. Tilika often gave super nice recommendations for day trips to do in the weekend and was in general kind and involved with the wwoofers. The area is not super remote so to do longer hikes a train ride is often required, but there is also a forest right next to the farm which is suitable for nice walks. The cat is super cute and might join you to sleep in your RV if you’re lucky!
Would definitely recommend to go there!

I spent my first WWOOFing experience at Tilika’s farm, and she made sure it became an amazing first experience from start to finish. I felt warmly welcomed from the very first day, and that feeling stayed throughout my entire stay.
I would describe Tilika’s farm as a modern and young farm with innovative agricultural concepts. It was a pleasure to support Tilika and the team in bringing their ideas to life. I was able to take part in many varied tasks, such as cleaning the barn, sowing vegetables, and repairing fences, which made the experience not only enjoyable but also a great opportunity to learn maaaany new things.
The whole family, the animals and the entire farm team definitely has a special place in my heart! :-)

My time on Gaia's Farm was amazing. From the first moment I felt welcome.
I appreciated Tilika’s warm character and ability to balance between humorous friend and instructive boss. She gave brief instructions at first and then took the time to answer more detailed questions if necessary. Like this she showed great trust towards my abilities and left room for autonomy. I loved living in the camper on the farm, it offered privacy and felt homey. Usually, the day would start with walking the dogs in the nearby woods – a beautiful start. The two dogs love to cuddle and give wet kisses out of nowhere ;) The tasks for the day would be as varied as possible: weeding, harvesting, feeding animals, washing eggs, grinding flour, indoor projects, or making cuttings from trees. Lunch was cooked by Tilika or us Wwoofers and we all ate together. Tilika is an amazing cook! And the best thing: Eating the food from the garden - very wholesome experience. In the first few weeks we had the evening dinners inside the house and when it got warmer, we cooked in the outdoor kitchen (roofed but not a closed room). Tilika communicated when the family needed privacy, but was generous to share dinners when the family had the „capacity“ for socials. During my stay I have learnt so much about plants, animals and about myself. The whole experience has kind of confirmed my dream to be able to grow my own food one day. Very recommended! I am happy to have met this beautiful family and the workers! Thank you.

What a blessing my experience was at Gaia’s Farm! When I found out my original WWOOF hosts couldn’t have me, I messaged Tilika and a couple other farms attempting to save my travel plans. With her quick and responsive communication, Tilika immediately responded that day. I was relieved. As soon as I stepped off the train, she greeted me with a welcoming smile and a ride to the farm. My first night there was full of good food, laughter, and thoughtful conversation. I immediately knew I was in the right place.
First off, Tilika is an amazing host. I received a warm welcoming in the house and with the family right off the bat. Of course, there were set boundaries for family time. Although, the few times a shower, or a conversation with the family or another volunteer pushed a little past that time, Tilika was super understanding. My accommodation in the camper trailer was above and beyond what I was expecting, including a space heater and electricity. When I did have some electrical issues with my camper, Dave (Tilika’s husband) was helpful and able to find another adapter for me. Don’t even get me started on the food. Tilika is a fantastic cook and you will not go hungry here. My favorite was the warm lunch around the table and hot coffee outside afterwards.
The work was tiring some days, yet enjoyable and extremely gratifying. Seeing food on the table straight from the farm was special.
Overall, I highly recommend coming to Gaia’s farm. I promise you won’t regret it!

Gaias farm was such a fun place to work at. Tilika and David were very kind and welcoming.
Typical jobs were clearing the veggie patches, harvesting foods, and planting new vegetables. Having four days off allowed for time to go exploring and traveling to see the surrounding nature.
The other WWOOFers who I met there, had such a fun time doing the tasks together and then relaxing and going on adventures after work and on the weekends.
I’m so grateful to Tilika and David for making it such a warm, fun, and genuine experience. I already miss everyone there and hope others can experience the journey!

If you’re looking for a farm that allows you to learn a lot about sustainable farming while also having a great opportunity to visit switzerland, this is the perfect place!
I spent an incredible 3 weeks with a different variety of tasks each work day. On my days off I explored the beauty of this country, with many recommendations of the Tilika and other workers, having easy access to public transport only a couple of minutes away.
I’m infinitely grateful for all that Tilika and David showed me, from the experience hands-on the farm to our lovely daily conversations.
