1. Describe your project, your place, and its inhabitants (including animals): Umoja Foundation Group is a grassroot transparent registered charitable community based and lead volunteer placement organization.Located in Kakamega County,Likuyani sub county,Western region in the Republic of Kenya.The organization is inhibited by mixed tribes of the local community who are small scale mixed farmers.The farmers practice dairy farming but not successful because their livestock breeds are not the artificial insemination breeds.The crop planting farmers practice mixed crops where they use bulls in ploughing their farm and don't plant the certified seeds thus poor farm produce. There's need to introduce local farmers to techniques that prevent soil erosion, introduce new skills on organic farming to reduce use of chemical and provide, demonstrate best artificial insemination breeds to local livestock farmers. 2. List the activities that WWOOFers will participate in and what you want to teach them: The organization has many activities that are of community need and WWOOFers may be interested to participate: support vulnerable children and families, environment related issues, education, water and sanitation, agriculture, sports,HIV/AIDS, support different abled persons youth and women empowerment, health,the aged and alleviate poverty.We strive to promote socio-economic activities for food production and income generating activity for sustainable life 3. How will you feed and house WWOOFers? Please describe your accommodations and plan for meals: Umoja Foundation Group has a permanent house with a restroom equipped with a flat LED TV, laptop, internet WIFI, toilet, bathroom,water, outside latrine,24hrs electric supply powered with a generator for backup.WWOOFers will be provided with a spotlight in case of blackout.we have well fenced compound with security Umoja Foundation Group will provide the WWOOFers with nice bedrooms. Three meals daily that's breakfast, lunch and dinner.We encourage wwoofers to pitch in 4. What could a WWOOFer's day look like at your site (time slot for participation in activities, expectations...)? The WWOOFers will be acquainted with organization history, environment and working experience.The WWOOFers will work for atleast 4-5 hours a day four to five days a week.partcipants to join in construction of a greenhouse and farming management to increase production. Introduction of new skills on organic farming. Crop maintenance Planting crops like onions, maize,beans,millet, tomatoes amongst other crops Provide, demonstrate best artificial insemination breeds to local livestock farmers.The project informs,educate and gives skills to the disadvantaged. 5. Play the guide! Talk about your own hobbies (music, cooking, etc.) and those possible around (hiking, swimming, etc.): Michael Ndanyi is a community health worker.He attended both primary and secondary education.He joined the Kenya Institute for Professional Counseling (KIPC) for counseling and nutrition.later join that Ministry of Agriculture for agriculture management.Worked with the Academic Model Providing Access to Health Care (AMPATH)as a food distributor for seven years in Nyanza and Western region of Kenya.He later shifted to work with USAID Aphia2western as a District Youth Coordinator (DYC). He is currently that volunteer coordinator at Umoja Foundation Group a registered charitable community based organization with a mission to build a stronger community through encouraging volunteer service and helping vulnerable children and families to live a sustainable life. A part from work Michael finds pleasure in reading story books, magazines, making new friends, travelling,gym, cooking watching movies and listening to cool music. WELCOME All AND ENJOY YOUR STAY.
