Gia sas friends! I am Eftychios and I live in a beautiful village called Katydata situated on the foot of Troodos mountain. It has a unique position in the island, with access to the sea and the mountain, near popular villages like Kakopetria and Kalopanayiotis, it is an hour's drive away from the capital of the island, Nicosia. The area is known for its fertile lands and a river that runs through the village all year through, situated next to the buffer zone and the archaeological site of Skouriotissa. I am an organic farmer that have left the city few years ago to live in the countryside, to become autonomous and live in harmony with nature. I have a field here we grow vegetables/fruits trees and one field with olive trees. The field with the vegetables and the fruits trees is 6000 square meters where many kinds of seasonal vegetables are grown. The field with the olive trees is about 5000 square meters. I am looking for people with a positive attitude and good energy, who care for the land and the environment, who enjoy being in nature and the quiet life of the village. People who like to work on the land, doing a range of agricultural activities, from cultivation to harvesting, composting and construction. Willing to help with all preparations and processing of our produce and the selling process. You will be given the opportunity to learn how to grow and cultivate a variety of organic vegetables, trees and herbs Organic methods: Composting using free range manure, grass cuttings and other available organic waste. Microorganisms and Bokashi Certified organic pesticides Co-cultivations and crop rotation. Certifications: The vegetable farm is certified organic by Lacon Ltd Current projects: I usually need help with the daily chores of the field, weeding, pruning, planting, making seedlings and collecting vegetables. In October and November,is a harvesting period olives. Also some times there is some processing of the vegetables. There are always some small construction projects, depending on the season and our current needs. For example, a small greenhouse for the seedlings. Internet access available

Efty was a wonderful host and I feel so grateful for the few weeks working with him and learning about olive care, pomegranate and prickly pear processing, and irrigation, as well as a great deal about Cypriot history, culture, and language (and plenty of the delicious food 😋)! Efty is courteous, personable, conscientious, tidy, and lives his convictions, taking care to use resources creatively and to communicate openly and clearly. I appreciated that he always made sure to outline the plan for the day / week, and that he thinks with the end in mind while also navigating every situation intuitively and with flexibility. He looks out for everyone’s wellbeing, honors preferences, and contributes an overall respectful, positive, receptive and easygoing presence wherever he is. The workload was fair and Efty takes care to do all he does with excellence. He equally values good rest, and knows how to establish a natural flow to the days and work and rest which felt both very sustainable and productive. As a bonus, Efty has a natural musical inclination and offered many opportunities to enjoy local music events and jam sessions, and his friends and community were also incredibly warm and receptive. If you’re looking to grow your skills, meet cool folks, and experience Cypriot culture and village life, I couldn’t recommend Efty and this opportunity more!!

Working on the farm with Efty was a fantastic experience and, as someone new to farming and food production, I learned a lot. I volunteered for a week in early April, and my work included planting pepper and parsley seeds, preparing nettle leaves for packets of tea, harvesting carrots, spreading fertiliser, weeding, and also farm maintenance such as repairing fencing and clearing out the irrigation canals. Efty explained all the tasks clearly and was happy to answer all my questions. We worked together in two shifts every day, from about 8am-12 noon and then again in the afternoon from about 4-6pm, with a generous break during the midday heat, for lunch and a rest. I was concerned that I might not be able to keep up with all the work, but there were frequent breaks and it never felt like more than I could manage. We worked together in the fields and also in the home, preparing meals and clearing up together, and the food was delicious and plentiful. The farm is in a small friendly village, surrounded by beautiful mountains. The scenery is stunning, and it is wonderful to be able to see the stars in the sky at night. It was a pleasure to work with Efty, and to experience at first hand the whole process of organic food production from first seed to final harvesting and delivery.I was very content living and working on the farm. Thank you, Efty, for such a positive, life-affirming experience !

We really enjoyed our stay with Eftychios. He is calm, easy going guy with friendly approach. We were staying during calm winter season, so beside work we enjoyed relaxation and discovering the area. Eftychios introduced us to local comunity and food culture. Meals were rich, mostly from own organic cultivation. Thank you for time with you, Efty! :)

Working with Lefkia and Eftychios was awesome! I felt like part of the family and the work was really good. The schedule was broken up into three hours in the morning and three in the afternoon with a good break between for lunch and a siesta. The food I was fed was very substantial (the most I've received in other WWOOF experiences) and it was delicious! The village of Katydata is small and quiet, but it's a great opportunity to slow down and take it easy. You will get views of the ocean and the most amazing sunsets during your stay! I would highly recommend this experience.
