Escape the Matrix. Get Your Hands in the Soil.
Most people are sleepwalking through a system designed to keep them consuming, scrolling, and working jobs they tolerate to buy things they don't need. If you've felt that — really felt it — and you're looking for something more honest, you might be ready for this.
Harmony Farm is not a retreat. It is not a wellness product. It is not Instagram content.
It is a small off-grid regenerative farm carved into the mountains of southern Ecuador, 3 km from Zamora, on the edge of Podocarpus National Park. It is my home. And it is an ongoing experiment in living outside the noise.
I live here with my dog Toki — who considers himself an assistant farm manager and will probably greet you before I do.
Volunteers help 4–6 hours per day, five days a week.
Projects shift with the season and the needs of the land — planting food and fruit trees, maintaining forest trails, reforesting degraded land, building with natural materials, carrying, digging, creating.
The work is physical, outdoor, and real. You will use your body. You will be tired in the good way — the way screens and offices never make you tired.
No experience needed. What matters is that you show up honestly, work with integrity, and care about what you're contributing to.
A private off-grid cabin sits approximately 100 meters above the main house — mountain views, spring water, gas stove, outdoor shower, and a sitting area to watch the clouds move through the valley.
There is no electricity in the cabin. That is not a limitation. That is the point.
Wi-Fi is available at the main house a short walk away — but most people find they reach for it less than they expected.
Basic vegan staples provided — rice, beans, lentils, oats, pasta, fresh fruit and vegetables. You prepare your own meals in a fully equipped volunteer kitchen. We shop together on arrival. Sharing a meal from time to time? Always welcome.
The mountains here are not decorative. Use them. Swim in the river. Sit in the jacuzzi. Take a cold plunge. Hike into Podocarpus. Read in a hammock. Explore waterfalls. Or simply sit in silence long enough to remember what your own mind sounds like without a feed running through it.
Life here is simple — muddy boots, mountain rain, physical work, quiet evenings, and slow mornings. If that sounds like relief rather than sacrifice, you'll probably fit right in.
This place is for people who question what they've been handed. Who want to work with their hands and think with their own mind. Who understand that opting out — even briefly — is one of the most radical and necessary things a person can do right now.
Harmony Farm is growing toward deeper self-sufficiency — expanding food production, fruit trees, reforestation, natural building, chickens, a natural fish pond. Everything that reduces dependence and increases life.
You will contribute to something that outlasts your stay. That matters.
If this calls to you — tell me a little about where you are and where you're headed.
