Salam Alaykoum, Hi! I’m Eva, part of the great Kamyaak Ecovillage adventure, founded in 2018 by Sahad Sarr. We are an independent, diverse community with people from Senegal and around the world. The village team includes Aby (village manager and women’s empowerment coordinator), Djibril (organic farming), and Ibrahima (animal care). We are a Bayefall community and hold weekly spiritual singing rituals. Everyone is welcome and free to join. You will meet Wolof and Serer community members, young locals, Dakar residents, and international visitors who live, visit, and help in the village. Looking forward to seeing you! 🌱 ----- Salam Alaykoum, Bonjour ! 🌱 **** Organic Methods: We use composting, our sanitation systems follow composting and biodiversity principles (including treebogs), and we practice permaculture in the community garden—among many other sustainable methods! ***** FOR YOUR STAY ***** -Bring your own, towel, soap, and toilet paper. -We have filtered water (otherwise you need to bring your own, available in the village Tattaguine, which you pass before arriving) -If you eat a lot, bring your own snacks and store them in your room. -No alcohol is allowed in the village. -No shorts or tank tops on the project sites — please wear pants and t-shirts. -Midday can be very hot — bring a book, your guitar, or crafts to keep yourself occupied! Projects & Activities We have many ongoing projects, but we do not work on a strict schedule. In the fields (May–August): -Harvesting millet, peanuts (arachid), hibiscus (bissap), and black-eyed peas (niebe). Permaculture garden (ongoing): -Onions, peppers, hibiscus, eggplants, lemons, and other indigenous aromatic plants. -We are actively developing a dedicated aromatic plant garden. Community initiatives: -Women of the village make handmade soap and hand-dyed textiles (periodically). -We offer French classes to women in surrounding villages (periodically). -Many other projects are in the works — you are welcome to contribute ideas, as we are always open to discovery and innovation. Internet access is available.

We stayed 5 days in Kamyak Ecovillage. We had a very good experience, sharing daylife with people living and working there. The daily routine was helping preparing breakfast, working 2-3h in the fields, helping preparing lunch and learnig Senegalese receips, resting in the hotest hours and working 1-2h in the afternoon. We were very confortable, they made us feel like at home since the first day. We recommend this place!

We had a very short stay but could get a good overview of the life in an ecofarm located in the middle of the "savane" in Senegal. Even if you know it, you realized even more that water is the key for living and that nothing is granted. The hosts were very nice and friendly as well as the people staying there. They are developing new ideas of businesses for the local population which is great. Thanks for your true hospitality!
