Hello my name is Gudny Halla Gunnlaugdottir I live in the south of Iceland surrounding with amazing nature. I´m married and we have 4 children, 3 boys 1 girl , 4 grandchildren. Our youngest son 22 and he is at the moment living with us working away. Our oldest son is 40 and lives with his family in Sweden. Our daughter lives in next town with her family. Our second youngest son lives in north. I have Studied nature Medicine and healing. I love to practice and teach it but the time is not always there because this is a milking farm with a lot to do each day by the cows. I have been breading Icelandic sheepdog fore 30 years were they were in danger of dying out only 250 dogs left in the world. Dogs from our Gerplu kennel can be found in many country's in the world. Both of us have been grown up with Icelandic horses so it was only natural to start breeding them and riding tge ponys are our hobbyes . But this breeding are on hobby level. Organic methods: Me and my husband Gudmundur 'olafsson have an organic dairy farm with around 50 Icelandic milking cows and cattle in all age are around 50. We milk morning and evening all days all year around. We also have farmland were we make our organic hey and corn. The most help we need on the farm including cleaning stables houses and milking the cows. We need help in household etc. because we got more tasks on the farm. like chickens, Icelandic horses and Icelandic Sheepdogs breed from Gerplu Kennel. they are sold world wide, I also have company named Fridarmidstodin ehf ( Peacecenter). The goal of the Peace center is: Nature protection Personal guidance Work creation in the spirit of organic and self supporting ideal. Certifications: The Farm Buland is certified as organic dairy farm , by Vottunnarstofan Tun Current projects: We like to have that want to take care of cows and Milk with us. Painting , cleaning the stables, Help with hey, renovation, fences , As we need to fix old houses. we would we need someone that are carpenter. Houshold, cooking, Internet access available

Would always come back.

I was supposed to stay here for two weeks, but I really liked this place, so I asked for an extension, and they kindly let me stay for four weeks. Gudny & Gudmundur are very kind, considerate, and very energetic. Even I was here for limited time, they taught me so many things. Another woofer who was the couple from France was also very lovely. We sometimes hang out between working time. I was lucky to have my birthday here, and they made a traditional French meal and cake for me. There are several things I love about Buland Farm. ・We live together. Gudny cooked delicious Icelandic food for us. Sometimes I and other woofer cook our country's traditional food, and we could share our culture throughout food. ・Dogs are too cute They breed some Icelandic sheepdog. They are so friendly and cute. I almost bought one dog from them(that's another story haha) ・Location The farm is located in the southern part of Iceland which is near the big waterfall, caves, volcanos, and so on. You can visit beautiful nature during the holiday. The view from the window of the house is extremely beautiful. You can see some volcanos and of course sunset and sunrise. I appreciate so much Gudny & Gudmundur for letting me join part of their family and try precious experiences. I will come back here in the future.

I stayed one month in Buland farm since I was interested in living in a farm and take a little break from my routine life. I found a welcoming place and amazing people. You won't surely get bored since Gudny is always full of ideas, maybe a bit chaotic sometimes but she will always ask if you feel fine and if you want to take a rest. I had no car there and I would suggest to have one, but she/her husband kindly offered to drive us in different places, since there are wonderful spots nearby the farm. In order to stay here you should be ok with dog fur and dirt in general (that you can clean of course) and be patient if your plans suddenly change. Thank you again Gudny and all Buland family for your authentic hospitality and goodness! Bless, Chiara

Gudny & Gudmundur and everyone at Buland were very lovely and warm; it was great to be there and a good introduction to Iceland. Gudny was flexible with making plans and working out a shorter-than-usual stay with us. Also, the farm is in a beautiful part of Iceland, close to many interesting places, and she was very kind to insist that we make time both for working and for exploring the area. They have many projects going on, in addition to caring for the animals, and it seems like a wide range of things to work on depending what one wants to do. Would love to come back!
