Welcome, on our site. We are a small organic farm near the city of Ljubljana. On the farm, we mainly deal with tourism, a riding school and work with horses. There is also some work in the field and in the forest. Here you can find horses, goats, donkeys, geese, rabbits, chickens, kittens, puppies and piglets. The work is divided according to the season. We are young family of three. Husband Jaka, wife Klara and son Kristjan (6 years old). Jaka goes to work and Klara works at home on the farm and also owns an online store. Farm work varies according to the season. SUMMER: - Caring for animals, cleaning places where animals live - Walking the horses to the pasture - Help with summer camps - Work with children - Animation - Work in the field - Riding and working with horses -Cleaning the surroundings of the farm - Help in the riding school - and more... AUTUMN: - Help with horses (taking them to the pasture, cleaning the stables) -Working with horses, riding -Caring for animals (feeding, cleaning...) -Work in the field and in the forest -Cleaning the farm - Help in the riding school - Help with arborist work, field work - anything else ... WINTER: -Cleaning the stables - Caring for animals - Animal feeding -Taking care of horses -Horse riding (it would help a lot if you have experience in horse riding) - Help with weekend workshops with children - Help in the riding school - and more... SPRING: - Construction of fences - Riding horses -Feeding and cleaning animals -Caring for animals (cleaning stables) -Cleaning the surroundings -Working in the garden -work in the forest - tree trimming -And more... Above you can find descriptions of approximate seasonal jobs, of course they only differ depending on your experience and the experience you want to gain. You have to be independent and efficient for these jobs. If you don't understand something, you can always ask us. We are kind and loving, we gladly welcome anyone who wants to get to know our way of life and our country. Let's just point out that most of the jobs are independent, because there is often no time - with the family and the online store. Therefore, we may recommend that you come to the farm with a friend (2 people). But if you are alone, animals are also great company =) If you come to us, you get a room next to the horses or our new log cabin awaits you. The toilet is separate from the room, and the shower is in our house (by the end of the year, the shower and toilet will also be in the log cabin). The work takes place throughout the day, i.e. there is care for the animals in the morning and in the evening. Since it is difficult for us to set a fixed schedule, we often agree with volunteers that they work 5 days a week all day and then have two days off. We are happy to advise you and help you organize trips (if you want to go see some sights) We can lend you a bike or take you on a bus...You get food from us, but there is also a very good restaurant nearby. In short, if you have any other questions, write to us here or to our e-mail. (After sending a hosting request, if you change your plans and can't come, please remember to cancel your request, thank you!) www.ranc-okorn.com Certifications: We are to smal for certification. Current projects: and many other works... Internet access available

Ranč Okorn was my second ever Wwoofing experience and one I couldn't be happier with. This family is so kind and caring, Klara and Jaka are very friendly and fun people and the entire family will make you feel at home instantly. Work was what you would expect - feeding and caring for animals, mucking out, managing the horses and carrying out various tasks across the farm. Sometimes I helped Jaka with gardenwork in the surrounding area. And while there is always something to do I always had time to spend time with the animals, sometimes ride or enjoy my free days somewhere in the wonderful country that is Slovenia. You will enjoy your time on the ranch if you love animals, are open to new experiences and people and if you're okay with the fact that real farm life sometimes gets chaotic. Thank you for two amazing months, I'm glad I was able to give you something back for this experience that is genuinely invaluable to me.

I spent three weeks in November with Klara, Jaka and little Kristian. Their farm is charming, with lots of animals (horses, donkeys, goats, dogs, cats, coons, geese, etc.), and I very quickly felt at home there! In fact, I was made very welcome by the whole family and the missions were just as described. My days were punctuated by feeding the animals and cleaning their pens in the morning and evening, with another task in the afternoon: storing wood/hay and gardening. I was delighted to spend time with Klara and Jaka, who taught me a lot about life on the farm, how to deal with animals, gardening, etc. I really enjoyed my time with them. Thank you for your kindness, generosity and humour, I'll be coming back to see you as soon as I return to Slovenia!

Everything was like it was discribed, the hosts were very nice so we had a great time. We mostly took care of the mini zoo and the horses and did some extra work like painting or gardening, which was great. We had some time off and had the opportunity to visit Slovenia which is such a beautiful country! The family as an whole was the nicest, thanks to Jaka parents and her mother for the amazing food! And of course baby Khristian who was the cutest and made the stay even better. We had the opportunity to ride a little thanks to Klara, it was really great! We can recommend their place a lot!

Thank you Klara, Jaka and the wider Okorn Family for a lovely month in Ljubljana and a great introduction to Slovene culture! Hvala! :) Genuine, hard-working, generous and kind people! Tasty and plentiful food and drink! So much of it sourced locally - Amazing! Beautiful walking trails in the village and surrounding woods. The location is perfectly situated for a Wwoofing experience. You are on a hilltop with breathtaking views & It is a quiet and peaceful area. However, you are not totally isolated. You are very close to Ljubljana’s city centre - It is possible to cycle there in just under 30 minutes. On your time off you have the chance to go into the city and meet new people, go shopping or sightseeing. It is a very pretty, small city which you can become well acquainted with in no time. You really have the best of both worlds!! :) Getting a chance to ride the horses was also fantastic. I had very little riding experience but Klara was kind enough to let me ride and show me the basics! (While taking some action shots of course! :P ) For people considering coming; Make sure you like animals, because you will be working with them a lot! You will be working by yourself at times as well - so just make sure you are up for this. Also bear in mind that the room you will be sleeping in is used during the day by kids who go horse-riding. That’s it really. Had an awesome time. Made some new friends - with people and animals alike! Got to experience living in a beautiful place and got some headspace. Nas Videnje in Hvala :D PS - Learning Slovene is fun!

It was my best month for past, at least, 5 years! Guys are very cool, known and can a lot. Living their farm and want to share the joys of rural life with others. I had insignificant experience in agricultural work, however it wasn't a problem. All what you need is love animals and be interested. The day began and ended with feeding the animals, in the middle of day I had to do something by myself or with Jaka, but it wasn't so exhausted, so I could lie down in a hammock, play with the dog, etc. Klara was taughting me to ride a horse (hopefully, I wasn't the worst pupil ever :)) A separate part of the review I want to devote to the kitchen. It was an extremely delicious and portions were as big as you can eat. Jaka's mom is a chef (don't forget her palačinky and soups yet). If you want something, you just have to say about it. Once, I went to birthday party and had russian-slovenian conversation with Jaka's dad :D. Finally, I've been thinking about changing my plans for the last few days and staying there longer , but I had to go further :(( During the month I spent on the farm, I learned a lot about horses (they are Klara's passion) and really love them. Also now I know how simple Slovenians are living. I made a new friend (say hello to Gregory). And of course I visited such places where I could hardly have gone by myself. Briefly, it is a brilliant experience, extremely cool guys, unbelievable trip and gorgeous Slovenia. I guess, now this is one of my favourite country. PS. apologising for my procrastination and review after 3 months
