My friend and I spent nearly 2 weeks at Harganat Ecolodge and although we had an incredible time there, we didn't get the chance to meet Bat and Katrien. At the time of our visit they were travelling to Europe, which we only found out of once arrived in Mongolia. At that time we’d been advised that the wwoofing would mainly include construction work, which we were fine with, as in late summer there is not much agriculture work to be done.
The Ecolodge and its surrounding areas are breathtaking, and Bat’s Ecolodges’ staff is warm and welcoming. There is a big river with many green and shadowy areas at walking distance for when you need a break from the steppe, as well as easy accessible mountain peaks at two hours hike from where you sleep. I would highly recommend the place but only if the host is there. As the staff speaks only basic English, we didn’t get to learn about the culture nor the way they farm, which is a shame because that was the main reason why we went there.

I spent almost 3 weeks at Harganat Ecolodge with Bat's and Katrien's family. I came to Mongolia because learn about and ride mongolian horses was my dream, and for that I'm so thanksful that you gave me the opportunity to ride so much ! I could learn a lot about mongolian horses because Bat knows all about them, he explains good and it was really interesting! The horses are great and I thank you so much to let me ride in total 7 of them! I also worked in the garden, each day was different and that's also what I like in a wwoofing, because it's always interresting to do different activities ! And I could teach english to a nice girl who taught me mongolian in exchange, and I also went to Khövsgöl lake for the week-end, and it's also great to go to swim in the river near of the place!
Bat and Kat are really nice people, I didn't only feel like a worker but really more like a part of the family there, and we can learn a lot about mongolian's culture, maybe even more because there is Bat who is mongolian so he knows so much, and also Katrien who is from Belgium so she has an exterior point of view and can explain us lots of things too !
Moreover, the place is beautiful, I slept in a ger, and they did a wonderful project, I'm impressed, and I'am so happy to could be part of it for those few great weeks!
So I want to thank you a lot for this time with you and I hope to come back when I have the opportunity to come to Mongolia again
Thank you so much and I wish you the best!

We stayed with Cat and Bat for nearly 3 weeks and it was an awesome experience. We were helping bulding up the tourist camp and also in the garden. Staying in the Ger and riding Bats Horses was a great way to get to know Mongolia. It was also really interesting to hear about the culture, Bat really knows a lot about the history and traditions of Mongolia. We were really sad to leave in the end and say goodbye to the whole family. In our freetime we went hiking and just exploring the stunning nature around the camp. We even went to Khuvsgul Lake and stayed there for the weekend. We definetely want to come again and see the finished camp!!!

We stayed at Harganat for two weeks and we had a great time there! The scenery is probably the most beautiful we have ever seen. The work was construction work (but they were really clear about this on forehand) but only 6 hours a day, so that was very doable. In our free time we enjoyed the stunning surrounding nature, spend time with really cool other wwoofers and we even got to do some proper Mongolian horse riding (well... at least our best try at it). Bat and Kat are really nice people and especially Bat knows a lot about the region and Mongolia in general. Live in the ger is basic but surprisingly comfortable and we actually missed it after returning to UB.
We hope to someday return to this amazing place. Thank you!
