A paradise for fresh food and fit bodies, Eden's Door has two customized fitness trails on its perimeter. On July 16, 2017, Eden's Door welcomed Wwoofer, Valentina Quinti from Genoa, Italy. Valentina is incredibly helpful and is making solid contributions to Eden's Door. A great photographer as well. I am seeing many new aspects of Eden's Door through her photos. Valentina loves Tobago and the warmth of the people and is thrilled to enjoy our farm-to-table gourmet cuisine. We shall post photos and stories soon Thank you.. Eden's Door promotes healthy lifestyles and wellness in a relaxing atmosphere. At Eden's door you will: Experience a working farm Grow fruit trees in an arboretum Sow your own seeds. We spent five weeks at Jennifer's place (Edens Door). It was a truly magical stay! We felt as if we have made a life long connection with Jennifer - they are an inspiration to us both. The work was tough but rewarding. We worked 5 days out of 7. You can use your own initiative, build skills and achieve a heck of a lot here - it truly is what you make of it! Be prepared to work hard, be flexible and open-minded to this experience. Jennifer herself was a remarkable and incredible host. Culturally she invites you into so many different aspects of Tobago life - this was a real joy! In terms of the cuisine it was another particular highlight! You get fed breakfast and dinner on the days you work and this meant we had some outstanding Tobago dishes featuring a lot of fresh ingredients. These meals were simply the best and a great opportunity to learn more from Jennifer. For accomodation we were provided with an outdoor glamping-style, private cabin. As nature lovers, we enjoyed waking up to the dawn chorus and seeing copious species of hummingbirds outside our front door. We stayed for five weeks, and would recommend others to stay for a minimum of a month to truly integrate yourself into the Tobagan lifestyle. Outside of working, Eden's Door is ideally located, with some incredible beaches located within a 10 mile radius. It is also near to the airport and situated nearby two major towns. We loved how close by all the islands attractions were, and felt that we saw so m

Dear Zoe an Tom, by association, Thanks for your heartfelt review. Our feelings are mutually delightful. As the world-wide traveler and almost Octogenarian you now know, I am counting my experience of being with you and Tom, among the significant experiences of my life. I have already thanked WWOOF for bringing us together. Keep up your adventurous spirit, your awakened embrace of "risk-taking" and I wish you every success in your ongoing journeys among us "Homo Sapiens." Warm regards to you both. Jennifer

I was doing the Volunteer in Eden’s Door during 1 month. In this period, I lived a good experience. In this review you will can read the most important aspects if you want to do a Volunteer in this place. Therefore, I am going to try to approach all the important aspects of the volunteer and the place in general. I am going to start with the island. Tobago is a magical place; here you can feel the good vibe of the people. In this small island, only life 60.000 of people and these people are distributing in different small towns. Most of these people live in the Capital “Scarborough”. For me the capital of the island do not represent the good face of the island because is a dark city with a gray environment, in a few words is a hostile place. If you want to explore the real face of the island, you must go to the north, south, east and west coast; here you will find a good Caribbean vibe, with many Rasta- men smoke weed in the beach with a friendly atmosphere. Eden’s Door is near to the Capital, just to 8 minutes in a taxi. The location of this place is very nice because is super central to many important points to the Island, for example turtle beach, Mount Irvine and Black Rock. The neighborhood of Ede’s Door is nice; you will find many houses in the hills and friendly people. If you are searching a party neighborhood close to the beach, this is not your place because here is a family neighborhood and there are not a many party movement here. If you want to explore the island is super easy from Eden’s Door because in a taxi (Particular Cars) you can go to Scarborough and then from there you can take another taxi or bus to anywhere place to the Island. (Eight TT per one trip). On the other hand, Eden’s Door is a nice place where you are going to find two large natural trails to do a good hike. These two trails are the most important points of attraction of the place. Also, you are going to find different points to grow vegetables and fruits. If you are finding a natural place where all the days you want to enjoy of the nature this is a good option, but remember, you need to take a taxi if you want to go to the beach. The infrastructure of Eden’s Door is one big house where Jenifer Lives. In this house, you are going to find the bathroom, the kitchen, the dining room and the office of the place. The place to sleep for the WOOFERS is a small wood cabin close to the natural trails. In this small cabin, you do not have energy, do not have bathroom and do not have WIFI service (If you want to take WIFI you need to walk to the principal house to take the red). My experience sleeping in this cabin was good and bad in the same time because I could have a good connection with the nature, but sometimes I could find snakes and many Lizards into the wood cabin. The bed is good and comfortable to rest. However, I think that the conditions can be better for the WOOFERS. Before to decide if Eden’s Door is a good place to do your volunteer you need to thing yourself in the capacity to work in the field with the conditions of the farm. I am going to describe the normal days and after you could decide if this is a good opportunity for you. The schedules was from Tuesday to Saturdays from 7:30 in the morning until to 2:30. With a one hour to take the lunch. In the begin Jeniffer did want that I worked to 7:30 to 3:30 but remember that this is a VOLUNTEER not a work, so you need to rest and enjoy the island not only work. Therefore, the activities start to prepare the table to take the breakfast, sometimes Jeniffer did the breakfast and in another occasion me. After to do the breakfast you need to put water to the crops and after start the difficult work, prepare compost to the plants, prepare the beds to the plants, to do steps in the soil, clean the trails, harvesting some plants and fruits and clean the bad weeds in the land. Remember, in Eden’s Door there are a lot of work and the most of the time you are going to work under the stronger sun. Sometimes I thought that I deserved a pay for all that work, in the end of the day I just wanted go to sleep and rest all the afternoon and the night. Respect to the food all was good, Jennifer gave me the soft breakfast and a good dinner, and I did myself the lunch in the kitchen. To the dinner, Jeniffer liked experiment with local dishes and new recipes that was so great because I learned about local food like the Calalu and the new form to do rice. Respect to Jennifer, she was a good hosting, all the time was super worried about my feeling in Eden’s Door and about my conform stay.  She too helps me to improve my English skills because I was learning there. Sometimes Jeniffer was super rigid about her life, and her house. I thought that sometimes she needs smoke a good Weed cigarette to life the relax Rastaman life of Tobago. Thanks for all.

June 23, 2023 is the date of my reply. The original may have been lost. Luis must be applauded for his thorough, thoughtful and well-organized description of his WWOOFING experience at Eden's Door. I was thrilled by his enthusiasm about learning to make a wide range of diverse and rich, rice dishes in the microwave oven in just a 10 minutes. Luis took several adventure excursions around Tobago and enjoyed his experiences. I recalled the day Luis crossed the street from Eden's Door and entered the recording studio of complete strangers with his "Quatro", a small 4-sting instrument, and asked to join the band in their practice session. It was a brave and culturally enriching experience. Luis was very hard working and made important contributions.

I was looking for an experience to challenge and test myself and this is exactly what I found at Eden's Door. When I came about two months ago I did not know anything about plants and I always thought I did not have a green thumb. Now I can see the results of some of the plants I have planted and taken care of and I am pretty sure that I will be able to grow my own little garden when I return to Genoa, Italy since it is so amazing to plant something and see it growing. Eden's Door is like a paradise to me, I am so close to the city and to all the things to do here in Tobago in the free time but at the same time I can easily be in touch with the stateliness of the surrounding forest and the farm with all the beautiful flowers, birds and plants. Eden's Door is a good opportunity to learn many different things since I had the chance to do other interesting tasks. I never get bored of doing the same things everyday. The food is more than divine and the tranquillity and peace in my heart (la pace nel cuore), that I found here made me appreciate Eden`s Door even more. I have built a very close relationship with Jennifer, who has been to me since the first time we met, an inspiration for all the things she has done and for her cheering spirit. I think Wwoofing is also a way to build long lasting friendships and to share everything about the culture of another country. Jennifer shares the culture of Trinidad & Tobago by taking me around and introducing me to the gorgeous people and places she knows. I know that I found a good friend and a beautiful person who showed me to take care of me, to appreciate myself and a person whom I can lean on. I recommend Eden's Door to all the people with an open mind who like to learn, share and enjoy as I am doing.

My reply is dated June 2023. Perhaps my prior reply may have been lost. Valentina was a most enjoyable and hard working guest. I am still in contact with her and re-live the joys of her presence at Eden's Door.

My experience with Jennifer Gregoria Bailey, the owner of Eden’s Door, was nothing short of disastrous. In keeping this review short, Jennifer was cruel and unkind to the locals and to me; she constantly belittled people in town, the private taxi drivers, other passengers and, well, quite frankly anyone. Jennifer conducted herself with a self righteous and demanding behavior, at times SCREAMING at a local worker on her property, then turning that venom onto me. Jennifer’s personality changed from minute to minute, from insincere kindness to irrational behaviors. Jennifer expected me to work 7 days a week, 9-10 hours a day without a break (“that’s why I demand that you eat a big breakfast; we don’t take breaks.”); she wouldn’t abide by the WWOOF rules, even after I discussed them with her. Jennifer’s current WOOFER has posted that she has worked for two straight weeks without a day off; not good. I was at Eden’s Door from June 9-11, 2017 (originally scheduled to be there two weeks), and couldn’t get out of there to save myself fast enough. I felt like a prisoner in a work camp, having my every move watched and criticized. Jennifer put money first and safety last. After she and I both slipped on an incline (me while carrying a 100 pound piece of lumber), she refused to spend the money to pay her farm manager Marco to cut steps into the hillside. So I went to Marco, told him what happened and he instantly stopped what he was doing, showed me how to cut the steps, and told me my safely comes first. I do want to say that Marco was an absolutely fantastic teacher & human being; one of my favorites on this planet! If it were just Marco at Eden’s Door, I would work with him as long as needed! Jennifer also still owes me money for supplies I brought to her from the USA.

As I re-read this review in 2023, It saddens me on the one hand because of its defamatory nature. On the other hand, it is an important statement about the importance of WWOOF in fostering cross-cultural awareness and respect for others. It shows that Ms. Nisey could only respect and praise the White Person, Marco, on my farm and despite my graciousness and warmth toward her, demonstrated no regard for me. For example, I took her to the local market to see the various vendors and their array of fresh food in a live, colourful setting. We laughed and chatted with people as we moved along and I inferred Ms. Nisey was enjoying herself. Later that day, I was surprised when Ms. Nisey complained about having carried the bags with the foodstuff I had purchased for us. Importantly, Ms. Nisey short stay at Eden's Door consisted of merely a day and a half. Ms. Nisey left without a statement of gratitude to attend a local festival with someone she had met on the plane ride coming into Tobago. My Assistant Marco was equally surprised by her sudden departure since he also believed Ms. Nisey was enjoying her brief visit.
