In French, the word “work” has an etymology that refers to something painful, instrument of torture, so I can’t say I worked in this place. I just felt like helping friends or family a bit. I lived as if I was in my own house, but a house with an amazing energy, sometimes because of the energy of the kids too, but sometimes just because of the place itself.
And thank you again to Chuen and his family for that, because here you can live an extraordinary experience. You can take your time to understand who you are, what you want, why, when... It’s really the place to go on a quest about yourself.
But it’s also a place to learn a lot of things, to learn with your hands and your brain, to learn skills through Chuen’s “concepts” aha, his energy, his authenticity, his generosity, and his kindness.
For sure, it’s also a beautiful place, with a lot of amazing hiking, nice neighbors, and yummy food, so it’s a good way to discover that part of German Switzerland.
So I recommend that place, these experiences, these people. And again, thank you for everything, I will come again, my friend!

I had a wonderful three weeks at Chuen’s. He is an incredibly generous host and made me feel very welcome, and his kids are so much fun to spend time with as well. The work was always varied and consisted of a few building projects which were quite fun and helped me to learn a lot of new skills. Chuen’s house is in a beautiful area with so many great hikes nearby, there is always something to explore and you will never be bored! We ate almost every meal together which I really enjoyed and I will always remember Chuen’s great cooking and fun conversations shared with him and other wwoofers over dinner, thank you for a great stay!

The house may not be suitable for families with young children. The private room was located up steep stairs, making access difficult. The room was not fully cleaned, with a presence of spiders. The toilet on the upper floor has no sink or shower, so handwashing after use is limited. The only shower is available in a shared area in the afternoon, and access may be restricted. Pets roam freely in the kitchen, which could affect hygiene when preparing food.
Tasks and work expectations:
Before arriving, I was informed the volunteer work would involve light renovation tasks. In practice, the tasks were physically demanding, including building a road, and required sustained effort with limited opportunities for breaks.
Host communication and flexibility:
After raising concerns, temporary alternative accommodations were provided, which allowed for a short extension of the stay. The host accommodated this request respectfully.
Overall Recommendation:
This placement may be suitable for single volunteers who are prepared for physically demanding work and flexible living conditions. Families or volunteers expecting light tasks, easy access to showers, or fully cleaned accommodations should carefully consider other options.

I arrived in the evening after working 8 hours on another farm and 6 hours of traveling to Chuen’s house. I saw it was a 5 minute drive for him to come pick me up and a 35 minute walk for me, so I asked if it would be possible for him to please pick me up. He said no because he had been drinking, so I made no fuss and walked even though I was exhausted and carrying 15 kilos on me. Upon arrival I asked for a towel + a bathroom to wash up, and he informed me I’m not allowed to use the bathroom in the morning and night. He then proceeded to say “no, you can’t use the bathroom, I won’t pick you up, this isn’t a five star hotel. If I’m being honest I don’t like you and I think it’s better you find another place to stay. I’m just honest” he then proceeded to make me sleep outside in the cold because there was no room inside. The only bathroom with a shower and sink is reserved for the air bnb guests who seem to be the priority in Chuen’s mind even though the wwoofers provide free labor. Chuen will reply to this saying I am a “princess” or that I “treated his house like a holiday” or that I “come from a rich family” (which I most definitely don’t) it is not being a “princess” to want basic human needs such as food, shelter, a bathroom I can use whenever I need, and RESPECT, in exchange for the hard work I did do like shoveling rocks for 5 hours. He also made offensive comments towards my religion as he was speaking about his beliefs. I cannot recommend this experience at all.

I don't deny that I said what you describe. But your conclusions make me look worse than necessary. The following points are important for an objective assessment: You had registered with me for the AFTERNOON and only told me towards evening that it would be later and later. Why I couldn't pick you up: I occasionally indulge in substances that impair my ability to drive. The fact that I don't even consider driving a 5-minute trip under the influence of these is a decision you have to accept; it is in accordance with traffic laws.
You asked me if you could start your stay here earlier because you wanted to celebrate your birthday in the mountains. That's why on the first night, “only” the bed on the terrace was available for you, sheltered from the wind and leaning against the house. You can make this seem like an unreasonable DEMAND, but for others, this place to sleep is a privilege.
I explained to you that the bathroom can only be used at certain times (after work). I had to remind you SEVERAL TIMES because you simply refused to follow my instructions in this regard. If I remember correctly, you were of course able to take a shower after your trip.
You asked me what I believed in. I explained to you that I had come to conclusions that corresponded with the beliefs of the Gnostics. The Gnostics believe that the creator god of this earth was only a demigod and produced a poor creation. You can see the results of this every day when you watch the news.
That's my opinion.

Fantastic place!! Chuen always gives 120% of his energy for lively experience and full of fun activities.
We were group of young international communities when I was WWOOFING here and everyone was such a lovely person as well!
We cook and eat together almost all meals in a day and it was amazing variety and taste. That was one of my favourites memories here. We worked in the morning till lunch and there were lots of projects and it was also a fun experience, learning new skills and seeing the progress everyday.
Thank you so much Chuen! That was a precious time and hoping I'll seeing you again!

We stayed with Chuen for a week with other wwoofers from different countries.
We felt really comfortable.
Chuen is a kind and creative host, it was a pleasure to discuss (and debate :) ) with him, listen to him sing and learn from his cooking skills (we ate very well).
The work during the week is varied (woodwork, cutting tall grass, cooking...): there's something for everyone!
In conclusion: don't hesitate to come to this little corner of paradise.
Danke Chuen!
We hope to be able to come and visit you again :)
